Plastic vs Glass vs Stainless Steel Tumblers: Which Blank Should You Sell?
Share
Plastic, glass or stainless steel? Each material suits different products, decoration methods and customers. Here is how they compare, so you can choose the right blanks for what you want to sell.
Plastic (double wall)
Our plastic cups are double-wall PS plastic. They are light, hard to break and clear, which makes them the base for most snow globe cups: the gap between the two walls holds glitter or liquid.
- Best for: snow globe cups, kids' cups, party and event cups, colourful lid sets
- Decoration: UV DTF wraps and vinyl. Not for sublimation
- Good to know: light to ship, and a low cost per cup, so a good place to start
Glass
Borosilicate glass looks and feels premium. Single-wall glass cans and tumblers are popular for iced coffee and gifts, and double-wall glass also works as a snow globe cup.
- Best for: coffee cups, gift sets, premium snow globe cups
- Decoration: UV DTF wraps and vinyl; clear and frosted glass can also be sublimated. For snow globe cups, decorate before filling: no heat on a filled cup
- Good to know: heavier and more fragile than plastic, so packing matters
Stainless steel
Double-wall stainless steel tumblers keep drinks cold or hot for longer and stand up to daily use. Powder-coated steel is the classic blank for laser engraving.
- Best for: everyday tumblers, corporate and personalised gifts, laser-engraved names and logos
- Decoration: laser engraving, UV DTF wraps and vinyl
- Good to know: a higher price per cup, but customers expect to pay more for steel
